Principles & goals
What we believe and what we pursue as a network of churches.
ABRIR is an alliance of Reformed Baptist churches in Spain working together to plant new churches and to revitalize those that need it.
Our foundation
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, our only rule of faith and life. The churches of ABRIR confess the faith summarized in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, and on that common foundation we plant and walk alongside every new work.
Churches planting churches
Every church that is born is called, in time, to send others. That is why we see it as a cycle.
The cycle, step by step
A local church discerns the call and puts forward one of its members as a church planter.
ABRIR visits the place, listens to the churches in the area and gets to know the candidate.
The Assembly approves the project and all parties sign an agreement with clear timeframes.
The planter works upheld in prayer by the churches and closely accompanied.
…which joins the Alliance and will one day send others. And the cycle begins again.
Our principles
The local church at the centre
Every project is born in a local church; the planter is a member of it and under the care of its pastors.
Accompany, not control
ABRIR walks alongside the planter and the sending church, without replacing their pastoral oversight.
Respect for the churches already there
In a revitalization we impose no one. We seek fellowship with the churches in the area, never competition.
Knowing the ground
We visit, listen and study every place before starting. We know Spain from the inside.
Transparency in everything
Clear accounts, truthful reports and agreements signed by all parties.
Caring for those who sow
If a planter goes through a crisis, we look for the best way forward together, with reconciliation and restoration as the goal.
